Serves: 30–40 balls | Prep: 30 min | Chill: 30 min + setting time No-bake (except the original cake) – the cutest bite-sized funfetti party treat!
Ingredients
- 1 baked cake, any flavour (a standard 20–23 cm / 8–9 inch round or square cake, cooled completely)
- ½ cup vanilla frosting (or any flavour that matches your cake)
- 2 cups melted white or milk chocolate / candy melts (for coating)
- Rainbow sprinkles (jimmies or hundreds-and-thousands) – optional but highly recommended
Method
- Crumble the cooled cake into fine crumbs in a large bowl (use your hands or a food processor).
- Add the ½ cup frosting and mix until it forms a soft, play-dough-like consistency.
- Roll into small balls (about 1–1½ tablespoons each) and place on a tray. Chill 30 minutes (or freeze 10–15 min) until firm.
- Dip each chilled ball in the melted chocolate/candy melts. Let excess drip off, then immediately decorate with sprinkles.
- Place on baking paper or wax paper and let set completely (room temp or fridge to speed it up).
Pro Tips
- Don’t add too much frosting or the balls will be too soft to dip. Start with less – you can always add more.
- Candy melts set faster and shinier than regular chocolate; white or pastel colours look extra cute with sprinkles.
- Use a fork or dipping tool to make coating easier and cleaner.
- Store in the fridge up to 1 week or freeze up to 2 months (perfect make-ahead treat!).
Zero leftovers guaranteed – everyone grabs at least three! 🎉
