Prep time: 10 minutes Cook time: 15–20 minutes Makes: 20–24 addictive little bites
Ingredients
- 20–24 mini frankfurters, cocktail sausages, or regular hot dogs cut into 3–4 cm pieces
- 1–2 sheets ready-rolled puff pastry (or canned crescent roll dough works too)
- 1 egg, beaten (for golden shine)
- Optional toppings (these take them next level):
- Sesame seeds or poppy seeds
- Everything bagel seasoning
- Grated parmesan or cheddar
- Pinch of sea salt
For serving (must-have!): Ketchup, mustard, BBQ sauce, ranch — little dipping bowls make it fun
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180 °C (360 °F) and line two baking trays with parchment paper.
- Unroll the puff pastry and cut into thin strips about 1 cm wide and 10–12 cm long (or just slightly longer than needed to wrap around your sausage).
- Wrap each mini sausage snugly with a strip of pastry in a spiral (like a little bandage — leave the ends peeking out so they look cute). Place seam-side down on the tray.
- Brush the tops generously with beaten egg, then sprinkle your chosen topping.
- Bake 15–20 minutes until the pastry is puffed and deep golden brown. They smell like pure happiness when ready!
- Serve warm on a big platter with dips — watch everyone fight over them.
Extra ideas
- Cheesy version: add a tiny sprinkle of grated cheese before rolling
- Pigs in blankets deluxe: wrap with bacon first, then pastry
- Breakfast twist: serve with scrambled eggs and maple syrup dip
The cutest, most moreish party snack on earth — gone in 60 seconds flat!
These I have to try! Perfect for our planned fishing trip these coming holidays.
