If someone had told me at the beginning of the year how many cakes I would create, I probably wouldn’t have believed them. What began as a creative hobby soon became a journey of learning, growing, and discovering just how much joy baking can bring—not only to the people receiving the cakes, but also to the person creating them.
This year has been filled with colourful birthday cakes, themed creations, elegant cupcakes, and plenty of opportunities to step outside my comfort zone. Every project has taught me something different. Sometimes it was mastering a new decorating technique, sometimes it was learning patience, and other times it was accepting that perfection isn’t always the goal. A cake made with care and love will always be remembered, even if every swirl isn’t exactly where you planned it to be.
There were cakes that turned out exactly as I imagined, and there were others that challenged me from start to finish. Those challenging moments became some of the greatest lessons, teaching me to adapt, solve problems, and keep creating with confidence.
One of the most rewarding parts of this journey has been finding my own style. I love creating playful themed cakes just as much as I enjoy the timeless beauty of carefully decorated cupcakes. It’s incredible how a few simple ingredients—flour, butter, sugar, and a little imagination—can become the centrepiece of a celebration and create memories that last long after the last slice has been eaten.
Looking back over the year, I realise that every cake tells its own story. They celebrate birthdays, milestones, achievements, family gatherings, and moments that deserve to be remembered. Being trusted to create something for those occasions is a privilege that I never take for granted.
Although I’m proud of how far I’ve come, I know this is only the beginning. There are still countless techniques to learn, new designs to explore, and creative ideas waiting to be brought to life. That’s one of the reasons I love baking so much—there is always something new to discover.
As I look ahead, I’m excited for the opportunities, challenges, and celebrations that the next year will bring. Every cake is another chance to learn, improve, and create something meaningful.
